Indigenous Communities can now access funding for Electric Vehicle Charging Installations. Natural Resources Canada and CleanBC Go Electric offer programs that provide capital funding for building EV fast charging stations, but the site selection, design, construction and operations are up to you.
The CleanBC Go Electric program is of particular interest as it funds up to 90% of the cost to install direct current fast chargers (DCFC) and co-located level 2 Charging stations. The program was launched on Sunday the 20th of September 2020 and the target number of DCFC ports to be installed from the Program is 80 and for Level 2 stations is 60. The total Program funding available for charger rebates is $5,076,000.
The stations must be OCPP compatible, which limits the selection of chargers that are eligible for rebates. The popular Flo and ChargePoint stations are not eligible for rebates under this program.
If your community is interested in this program, we can help you with you applications and get additional funding. Please contact us.
